A Midsummer Night’s Splash Makes Waves Again

Midsummer mischief struck again! For the second year in a row, we traded the stage for the swimming pool.

On August 1, Inspiration’s Edge returned to Luckie Park Pool in Twentynine Palms for our second annual A Midsummer Night’s Splash fundraiser, bringing together theatre lovers, families, friends, and community members for an evening of swimming, music, games, prizes, pizza, and plenty of midsummer mischief.

And once again, our community showed up for us.

For the second year in a row, our Midsummer Splash achieved nearly $1,000 in fundraising support for Inspiration’s Edge, matching the success of our inaugural event and helping us continue creating accessible performing arts experiences throughout the Hi-Desert.

Seeing that support continue for a second year makes this celebration especially meaningful. What started as a new idea last summer is quickly becoming a summer tradition; one that not only supports our work financially, but gives us another wonderfully unconventional way to bring people together through the arts.

And as always, the real magic wasn’t just in the funds raised. It was in seeing familiar faces return, welcoming new ones, laughing together, playing games, cheering over prizes, and simply enjoying a summer evening together as a community.

A huge thank-you to everyone who came out to swim, splash, play, and support us. We are especially grateful to our volunteers, who worked through some serious desert heat to set up, keep the fun going, and pack everything back up again. Events like this truly are a case of many hands making light work, and in August, making that work a whole lot safer, too!

We also want to give a special thank you to 29 O’Clock for generously donating gift cards for our prizes, and a big, cheesy round of applause to our local Papa John’s of Twentynine Palms for donating pizzas to help feed our guests! We’re always incredibly grateful for local businesses that show up for their community and support organizations like Inspiration’s Edge.

And, of course, our gratitude goes to the Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department for once again helping us turn Luckie Park Pool into our own little midsummer playground.

Two summers. Two successful fundraisers. And another reminder that our community continues to show up for local performing arts.

We’d call that a tradition worth continuing.

Because theatre isn’t just about what happens on the stage. Sometimes, it happens poolside.
