Director’s Corner: Thank You for Doing the Time Warp With Us

As the lights dim and we pack away the last remnants of fishnets, glitter, and pelvic-thrusting joy, I find myself reflecting on what an unforgettable experience The Rocky Horror Show has been for Inspiration’s Edge and for our Hi-Desert community.
What we created together this October wasn’t just a production; it was a living, breathing celebration of boldness, queerness, camp, and the chaos that makes Rocky Horror a timeless phenomenon. And now that the curtain has officially closed, I want to say what I felt every night: thank you.

A Community That Showed Up—Fearlessly
Rocky Horror has always belonged to the outsiders, the dreamers, and the delightfully unconventional. This show thrives because audiences embrace it with their whole hearts, and our Hi-Desert community did exactly that.
You sang. You shouted callbacks. You dressed up. You jumped into the experience with humor, joy, and absolute abandon.
Seeing our audience transform each evening was a reminder of why community theatre matters. It connects us: messy, loud, joyful, imperfect, human.
Honoring Tradition, Creating Something New
One of the great privileges of directing Rocky is honoring its legacy while shaping something unique to the cast, crew, and community, bringing it to life. Our team leaned into that challenge with creativity and courage.
Every choice from choreography to costumes to the inventive use of our found space was made with love for the original and excitement for what we could make our own.
Thank you to the actors who poured themselves into each moment, the musicians who carried the heartbeat of the show, and the designers and technicians who turned limitations into artistry. Your dedication made this production shimmer with its own desert-born vibe.
To the Volunteers: You Are the Backbone
A production like this doesn’t happen easily. It takes sweat, laughter, late nights, and people willing to say, “Yes, I can help with that.”
Every volunteer who built, carried, painted, cleaned, ushered, sold tickets, handed out prop bags, and kept the show running: you made this possible. You are the unseen heroes and the pulse of Inspiration’s Edge.
A Safe, Brave Space for Creative Chaos
Behind all the camp and wildness, Rocky Horror requires something sacred: trust.
I’m proud of the environment we created together; a space where actors felt safe to explore, take risks, and bring their fullest selves to the stage. It’s the kind of creative home we’re committed to building at Inspiration’s Edge.
Until the Next Warp…
To everyone who supported this production in any way: thank you. You helped us share what collaborative community theatre can look like in the Hi-Desert. You helped us celebrate joy, queerness, collaboration, and the beautifully unconventional spirit that lives at the center of this show.
And you reminded me, once again, why we make theatre: to connect, to celebrate, and to create something unforgettable together.

Until the next Time Warp, Hi-Desert...
